Cruit Island, County Donegal, Ireland. “At the edge of the world and a little beyond.” There’s a magical clifftop nine hole golf course situated on the Northern tip of Cruit Island. The signature 6th hole (pictured) is designed by Mother Nature and conforms only to the shape of the dramatic landscape that created it. It is one of the best, most beautiful and most ‘terrifying’ par threes in the world.

Mc Swyne's Castle, Dunkineely, County Donegal, Ireland. Standing on the Edge (Just About)! Mc Swyne’s Castle, or what remains of it is situated on the narrow headland of St Johns Point, near Dunkineely. The location is stunning with views along the Point, Killybegs and Slieve League in the distance. Built in 1400, and along with the adjoining lands was owned by the Mac Swyne’s who originally came from Argyll in Scotland. In the Plantation of Ulster both castle and lands were granted to Scotsmen, first to William Stewart and later to John Murray. Located in the town land of Rahan Near, on the edge of Mc Swyne’s Bay, the ruins are battered by Atlantic gale force winds, and with sea erosion it is now in danger of falling into the sea. The castle was used as a quarry by the middle of the 19th century and stone from it was used to build St. Mary’s Church in Killybegs, with further material removed to build the enclosing wall of the new cemetery in 1872. According to local folklore, there used to be a football pitch at the side of the castle and a smugglers tunnel leading to the village of Dunkineely.
